About our Nursery:

We are a preschool Nursery class that takes children from 2 years until school age. Each child has a key worker to support them through their time with us.

Children are encouraged to take part in a variety of activities to prepare them for school. This includes phonics, story time, fine motor skills, group activities and much more. We aim to give all children a stimulating and safe environment for them to take part in new experiences and become confident, happy learners.

Our Nursery class has a indoor provision as well as a large outdoor area that children have access to, no matter the weather! We also have smaller rooms for their Key Worker groups and registration time. In our Nursery we are set up for learning through play, with a role play area, small world toys, reading area, construction, climbing equipment, mark making, creative area, bikes and much more. We add to our provision regularly based on the children's needs and interests.

A day in the Nursery:

A typical session in our Nursery looks like this:

8:45- Welcome children, register in our key worker groups, short adult led activity

11.20-Outdoor play time before lunch

Within the session, we lead some activities for the children to join in, as well as leading interventions such as speech and language support.

The afternoon is a similar timetable to the morning. We focus on child initiated play, with some adult led activities within the provision to model important skills.

Summer Term:

Welcome back!

We have some new children joining us this term. We're looking forward to greeting them and getting them settled in our class.

For children that have been with us that bit longer, we're looking at building our independence over this term. This might be learning to put our own coat on, choosing resources to create or play with, or looking to share our experiences with other children in the class. We want our children to be independent learners and ready for Reception!

Our current topics for this half term are Life Cycles and Minibeasts. We're starting with the Hungry Caterpillar for the first 2 weeks, then moving onto minibeasts and plants growing. Hopefully we'll have some sunny weather to explore these topics outside even more!

In the second half of the Summer term the topic will be Julia Donaldson. This is a lovely topic for us to end the year on. We'll enjoy stories such as the Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Zog, Snail and the Whale and many more! Feel free to share these at home too.
