What is a head pupil?

  • A head pupil is a representative that works for all the other pupils to make the school the best place it can be.

What will a head pupil have to do?

    • Work alongside the pupil leaders
    • Speak regularly in assemblies about new projects and their progress
    • Represent the academy at events both in and out of school time
    • Be the voice for pupils when meeting with the principal and governors to make changes to the school for the better

Qualities of a head pupil

    • A good listener
    • Fair
    • An excellent role model to others
    • Punctual
    • Reliable
    • Confident in speaking in front of others

How is a Head Pupil chosen?

Each applicant is required to deliver a 3 minute speech to explain why they think they are the best person for the role. Speeches are viewed by all pupils in Y5 and 6 and each pupil then takes part in a a secret ballot to democratically vote in their Head Pupils who hold the post for 1 academic year.

Bullying Prevention Team:

  • An understanding of what makes a good friend
  • An ability to solve conflicts through restorative processes
  • A willingness to give up some playtimes to complete the role
  • An understanding of the bullying prevention process
  • Confidence to deliver assemblies and lessons on anti-bullying
  • Excellent role model to others
  • Willing to attend regular meetings and carry out a weekly duty

Safety Squad:

  • Proactive
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Confidence to speak to various groups including the whole school and visitors
  • An understanding of e-safety
  • An ability to deal tactfully with various situations
  • An ability to keep information confidential
  • Willing to attend regular meetings and carry out a weekly duty

Sports Leaders:

  • Ability/willingness to lead clubs
  • Confidence to speak to various groups including the whole school and visitors
  • Experience of representing the school in sports events
  • Excellent role model to others
  • Willing to a weekly meeting and carry out a weekly duty
