As a nursery we are fully committed to providing high quality care and education for all our children. Children aged 3 and 4 years old can explore and learn in a safe and stimulating environment.
We plan daily to provide and enhance activities based on children's current interests and their changing needs. Our aim is to support our children to develop the skills needed to transition from nursery to school and to become independent learners.
Uniform - Uniform is available to purchase from our website, but is not compulsory. Girls wear black trousers, pinafore or skirt, a white polo shirt and black sweater with the Leighton Academy logo. Boys wear black trousers, a white polo shirt and black school sweater. Warm, waterproof coats can also be purchased.
We suggest that whether your child wears uniform or not, they wear clothes that allow them to be active and are easy to go to the bathroom in such as pull on trousers and leggings. Although our children wear aprons for activities like painting and water play, they can still get messy, so please don't send them in their best clothes!
We spend our day exploring our indoor and outdoor environments whatever the weather. As our British weather is so changeable can you please ensure your child brings a suitable named coat, change of clothes, suitable footwear and wellington boots daily. A bag with change of clothes and wellingtons can be left on your child's peg.
Dinners (full time children only) - If your child attends all day, the school can provide a hot school dinner at a cost of £2.30 per day, payable via your child's Arbor account. Please ask for a copy of our 3 week menu. All meals must be paid for in advance. Alternatively, you may provide a packed lunch. Advice on providing healthy lunches is available on the main school webpage.
Snack money - We ask for a voluntarily contribution of £10 per half term payable via your child's Arbor account, please contact the school office (firstname.lastname@example.org). Children are given a healthy snack each day such as fresh fruit or vegetables and crackers. Any surplus snack money is used to provide materials to enrich our nursery curriculum.
Water Bottles - We ask that you provide a named, plastic water bottle so that your child can access a drink whenever they wish. We do not recommend fruit juice in accordance with school healthy eating guidelines.
Toys - We strongly suggest that any toys are left at home as children may become upset if they are lost.
Wraparound Care - L.A. Stars provide wraparound care for both before and after school and in the school holidays which is based in the main school. Please contact main school reception from 8.45 - 3.15 pm on 01270 814016 or call LA Stars direct on 07935 391 from 7am - 9am and between 3pm and 6 pm. You can also email:email@example.com.
If you would like to book a session, you will need to register for Kids Club HQ or booking system using the link: https://leightonacademy.kidsclubhq.co.uk/rdr?u=home.
Our Nursery Curriculum - We provide a range of stimulating activities indoors and out to help your child learn and develop and achieve the outcomes of the Early Years Foundation Stage. For more information, please speak to Mrs Warriner, Preschool Lead. Further information can also be found at www.foundationyears.org.uk.
Home Learning - We believe in working closely with parents to support children's learning at home. Our Weekly Update has suggestions for actitvities you can do at home linked to our current activities.
Physical Education - We have weekly PE sessions which take place in the main school hall with our PE Specialist Mrs Holland. PE Kit isn't necessary, but we advise sending your child in clothes like joggers or leggings that won't restrict their movement and shoes or trainers with velcro straps which are easy for them to take on and off. It would be really helpful if your child could practice taking their shoes off and putting them back on at home.
Attendance - Regular attendance is really important to help your child get the best out of their nursery experience. If your child is not well enough to attend, please telephone us on 01270 814016 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org If we do not hear from you, we will contact you by text to check everything is ok.
Sharing Information - You will receive a Weekly Update via email with information about your child's activities in nursery and news of special events. More information is available via our webpages and Parents' Noticeboard.
